The Leeds Digital Ball is made possible by the generosity and commitment of organisations across Leeds. Our sponsors don’t just support an incredible night, making valuable connections with tech and digital leaders – they help fund vital projects that tackle digital exclusion at the root, opening access to digital skills and opportunity across the region for those who need it most.
In this sponsor spotlight, we spoke to Addleshaw Goddard, a long-standing supporter of the Leeds Digital Ball, about their organisation, why digital inclusion matters to them, and what makes the Ball such a special event for the Leeds community.
Tell us a bit about your organisation and the solutions you offer your clients
Addleshaw Goddard is an international law firm, 250 years in the making. Outside of doing tech deals, we have a large commercial team of lawyers who are tech specialists and advise on high-end technology and outsourcing. Our extensive team of local lawyers also includes experts in data protection. We firmly believe in supporting the tech ecosystem and providing digital skills to build a more equitable future for those digitally excluded.
Why did your organisation decide to sponsor the Leeds Digital Ball?
Addleshaw Goddard is proud to sponsor the Leeds Digital Ball as part of our commitment to supporting the vibrant tech and digital community in Leeds. The event’s success in raising significant funds for projects that focus on digital inclusion resonates with our values and our pro bono work, where our Leeds team has contributed over 1500+ pro bono hours to support local initiatives.
By sponsoring the Leeds Digital Ball, we not only celebrate the achievements of the tech and digital sector but also contribute to the important cause of ensuring everyone in our community has access to digital opportunities. This event allows us to reinforce our connection to the city of Leeds, showcase our commitment to tech solutions, and support meaningful projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Why do you think events like the Leeds Digital Ball are important for the local community?
Events like the Leeds Digital Ball play a vital role in strengthening our local community by bringing together organisations, innovators, and leaders who share a commitment to driving digital progress. They shine a spotlight on the incredible talent within the region while helping bridge the digital divide through meaningful fundraising.
The ball creates a space where collaboration thrives, awareness is raised, and tangible support is provided to projects that improve digital access and opportunity for everyone. In doing so, it helps ensure that the benefits of the region’s growing tech sector are felt across the whole community.
How does sponsoring the Ball align with your company’s values or mission?
Sponsoring the Leeds Digital Ball aligns closely with Addleshaw Goddard’s long-standing commitment to fostering innovation, supporting our regional communities, and promoting digital inclusion. As a firm deeply embedded in the tech sector, we believe that access to digital skills and technology is essential for creating fair and sustainable opportunities.
Like any organisation, we do not operate in a vacuum; we are part of a bigger ecosystem and recognise the need to operate ethically and responsibly in relation to all of our stakeholders. At AG, our ESG agenda is referred to as our Responsible Business Programme.
Our Responsible Business activity falls into five key areas: Colleagues (including diversity, equity and inclusion, career development and wellbeing), Community (including our volunteering, charity and pro bono work), Climate (covering our environmental sustainability efforts) and Commercial (working with our clients and suppliers on their responsible business journeys), all of which is underpinned by good governance (Conscience).
Across these focus areas there are opportunities for everyone at the firm to get involved whether that be as part of their official function, prioritising ESG commitments to create change, or as a volunteer into one of our networks or working groups.
What are you most looking forward to on the night of the Ball?
We can’t wait for the energy of the night, the buzz of the room, the chance to catch up with familiar faces, and the joy of meeting new ones from across Leeds’ brilliant tech community. The ball always delivers a great mix of celebration and purpose, and we’re looking forward to enjoying the entertainment, soaking up the atmosphere, and cheering on the incredible work being done to boost digital inclusion. And of course, we’re always ready to hit the dance floor!
